Geçen gün bir arkadaşım, dalış eğitimi sonrası üzerinde “Into the Blue” yazan bir tişörtle geldi. Gözleri parlıyordu. Sadece su altına dalmış olmanın değil, o dünyanın bir parçası olmanın gururunu taşıyordu. “Bu tişört bana ilk 18 metremi hatırlatıyor,” dedi. O an fark ettim ki, insanlar bu tarz kıyafetleri sadece güzel göründükleri için değil, yaşadıkları anı onurlandırmak için giyiyor.
Yüzme ve dalış kulüplerine katılan ya da bu okullardan eğitim alanlar için bir tişört bazen bir madalya gibidir. O suyun kokusunu, maskenin altındaki gülümsemeyi, kulaç atarken duyulan sessizliği taşır. Her giyildiğinde tekrar yaşanır. Hatta kimileri için bu tişörtler, bir konuşma başlatıcısı olur. “Sen de mi dalıyorsun?” diye biri yaklaştığında yeni dostluklar doğar.

A friend of mine, after her first scuba course, started wearing this simple shirt that read “Dive. Breathe. People don’t just wear these shirts because they look cool—though they usually do. They wear them because it helps them relive something special. It says, I did this. It says, this is part of me now. And for many, it becomes a way to connect. “You dive too?” A simple question sparked by a shared print can lead to friendship, or even adventure.
One of my students once told me, after getting a mermaid-themed shirt post-diving course, “This shirt feels like me.” That’s when I realized: a good design doesn’t just represent the sport. It reflects the soul of the person who wears it.
